Perugia, right in the middle of Italy has plenty of options to get to. By air, the closest airport is that of the Community of Saint Egidio where there are direct flights from Milan and connecting flights from the whole of Europe. There are busses from St. Egidio to the city of Perugia, too. By car, Perugia is located approximately 100 kilometers away from Florence. So Milan or Rome busses can be taken easily. Also, direct trains are available from Rome, Florence and Milan.
Public transportation such as buses, on the other hand, is available throughout the city itself. As the university is 5 minutes on foot to downtown, walking or taking a bus is the simplest. The extensiveness of buses makes taxis so rare and less popular. The mini metro is also a modern, cheap public transportation method used by citizens and students all year round.
As for accommodation, the city is small and is not a tourist spot, therefore living expenses are lower in Perugia. For instance, we can mention some approximate prices for renting accommodations as shown below:
A single room with a shared bathroom in a multi-bedroom house (ranging from 150 to 220 Euros /month)
A small suite with a separate bathroom, toilet, and kitchen (ranging from 220 to 350 Euros/ month)
A single-room apartment (ranging from 350 to 450 Euros/month)
